There's something about an open fire that makes any space look more romantic and alluring, especially on a cold Collingwood night. Baden Powell Hotel is thankfully blessed with one, adding to the cosy atmosphere created by large wooden slabs of tables, bits of brickwork and a brightly-hued mural on the wall. Combine this with cheerful staff and ridiculously generous servings (perhaps explaining the need for such sturdy tables), and it is no wonder that the Baden Powell has such a loyal following of locals. Go in summer to sit outside in the beer garden and enjoy their conscientiously prepared, European influenced pub grub.
